💧How to Preserve Moisture and Carbon in Sandy Soils: Resource-Saving Technologies at Profitable Field
🌱 Field preparation within the Profitable Field project began in early spring with testing different solutions for effective crop residue management.
🔧 On one of the demonstration plots, a Volta 6000 tine harrow from Technopol was used together with UAN-32 application to accelerate the mineralization of crop residues.
🛠️ On another plot, solutions from BEDNAR Ukraine were tested, including the DURACUT TE 12400 roller-mulcher and the MULCHER MZ rotary mulcher. The main objective was to achieve uniform shredding and mulching of organic matter and subsequently distribute it evenly across the field.
🚜 Immediately before sowing, strip-till technology was implemented on selected plots. A BEDNAR STRIP-MASTER cultivator was used to form strips 25 cm deep, with a working depth of up to 35 cm when required.
💧 Fertilizer was simultaneously applied at a depth of 20 cm according to an individual prescription developed based on AgriLab’s soil agrochemical analysis, in partnership with ICL Growing Solutions and Agromix.
