Precision farming: the “puzzle” has developed!

Agrilab, together with AgroRigion, held a workshop on the application of precision farming technologies for students of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine. Specialists of the companies demonstrated the whole “puzzle” of the technological process in the field: from soil analysis, complex agrodiagnostics of the field, to yield mapping.

Students learned how complex agrochemical field testing is done and how its results are used in practice, got acquainted with the results of differentiated sowing, and saw how the technology of local tape and differentiated fertilizer application is implemented. And the field part of the lesson was completed with a demonstration of harvesting with the technology of mapping yield. It would seem that all: the puzzle of “precision farming” – came together! Well no. After all, in order to integrate this entire complex production process into a single system, you need to digitize the data.

Therefore, the workshop lasted at the AgriLab office, where students were shown the portal of the agronomist MyAgriLab – software for accumulating, visualizing and analyzing field data.

“It is very important that students receive practical skills in working with modern technologies and become familiar with the process of introducing innovations in agricultural production. For this purpose, 2 years ago, we laid the foundation for the AgriStart training project together with NULES. And already this year, on the basis of the project, a master’s program was created,” said Yaroslav Boyko, CEO of AgriLab. The partnership between agribusiness and education is an important factor in the development of the industry: providing students with access to modern technologies today, we will get qualified specialists tomorrow.”

This opinion is shared by students of agronomic specialties:

“I liked the workshop very much,” Anastasia Ponko, student of NULES, shared her impressions. It is interesting to see how the technologies that we study work in practice, communicate with experienced agronomists. Such classes not only expand our knowledge, but also motivate, inspire and once again convince us that we made the right choice of a profession several years ago.”
